This Morning I was flabbergasted to learn that Corporations can now openly buy American Elections! A terrible Departure from the Past, when they had to do so secretly. It caused me to lament other minor Glitches in the electoral System, such as the cost of ID Cards disabling the Poor from voting, discrepancies in the counting Machines, the movement of constituency Boundaries, Lies, the opening Hours of polling Stations preventing the attendance of Workers, absence of Information about Policies, postal Votes, the disqualification of Voters convicted of being black, first past the Post, and the Media declaring Losers to be Winners. Then I remembered a rehearsed Witticism of the revered Warlord Sir Winston Churchill. Churchill hated Democracy. "Democracy", he recited, " is the worst Form of Government, except for all the others that have been tried from Time to Time." (Perhaps that is why he set about destroying them.) I contented myself with the Thought that despite the odd Shortcoming, at least Elections took place. I switched on the Television, and enjoyed a compelling Advertisement for one or other Faction of the business Party.
